NCCA Commission Chair and Executive Director, Board of Certification, Inc.

During the winter, the NCCA Commissioners reviewed recommendations from the Recertification Task Force and approved a revision in the commentary related to Standards 19 and 20. The edits to the commentary are intended to provide further detail on the purpose and goals of recertification. Please note that this revision is editorial only and does not represent a change to the Standards themselves. The most recent version of the NCCA Standards for Accreditation of Certification Programs is available for download from the NOCA website at www.noca.org/ncca.

The first 2008 deadline for submission of NCCA accreditation applications passed on January 31st. The Commission continues to see the accreditation program grow as more organizations realize the value of accreditation of their certification programs. To manage the increase in applications received, the Commission will continue to evaluate its procedures and services this year in order to ensure the best service possible for accreditation applicants. The next deadlines to submit in 2008 are April 30th and September 30th.

Annual Reports for Organizations with Accredited Programs

The NCCA requires that each organization with accredited programs complete an annual report form to enable the NCCA to monitor continuing compliance with NCCA Standards. The annual report form is required to maintain accreditation for several reasons, including:

  • To document compliance with NCCA Standard 21.
  • To keep organizations with NCCA accredited programs continually aware of the NCCA Standards.
  • To provide organizations the opportunity to receive feedback on any changes that may affect their accreditation status, and receive suggested actions to take to maintain compliance with the NCCA Standards.

In limited situations, the annual report may provide data leading to revocation of NCCA accreditation, if after NCCA review of an organization’s annual report and communication with the certification program, the certification program then fails to respond or its response demonstrates intended lack of compliance with NCCA Standards.

Please click here to download the 2007 annual report form.  In order to maintain accreditation, all organizations must complete the form regardless of whether they were recently accredited, recently submitted a renewal application, or will be submitting a renewal application..
